The Power of Wind & Time

One Hundred Five (105) years ago a young photographer named Clarence Bisbee photographed a balanced rock in southern Idaho.   You can see one of his photographs by clicking here and see more of his photographs by clicking left and right in that flickr photostream.   Many of his his photographs, unlike the two of mine below, have people in them at the base of the rock to give a sense of scale.   In his photographs you can see the dirt road that is now a highway in mine.  Has the rock changed in 105 years?

I enjoy heading out to Balanced Rock from time to time.  It’s just far enough away and just interesting enough, to serve as a nice get-away day trip.
